As graduation approaches, Maine South seniors will have numerous opportunities to celebrate their past four years. The Maine South Senior Class Council’s Instagram posted a list of the main events: Senior Tailgate on May 14, Prom on May 15, the car parade on May 15 at 10 a.m., Senior Honors Night on May 19, Senior Sunset on May 21, and Graduation on May 22.
“The Senior Tailgate is a student-led activity, but there is time set aside on the last day of school, May 14th, for seniors to show up early with their college t-shirts, and the students take it from there,” Senior Class President Caitlin McCarthy said.
“Prom will be held in a tent right outside the spec gym, typically where teachers would park. There will also be some photo ops situated in the spec gym so students will be entering in that area and walking to the tent,” McCarthy said.
Although there is not a theme, the decorations will include fairy lights and balloons to achieve an enchanted garden look.
“We will also have a table with desserts and a high-top table. There’s going to be a DJ and projector just to set the mood. We will announce senior superlatives and prom court as well,” McCarthy said.
As for the Senior Sunset’s rules and expectations, McCarthy said, “No outside guests. Seniors only. Bring your ID. If you made group t-shirts you can wear those to take pictures here.”
More information regarding specific times will be posted closer to the events on the Maine South website and the Maine South Senior Class Council’s Instagram page. To ensure the safety of these events, proper mask wearing and social distancing must be taken seriously.
